Our Staff:

Stephanie Houdek-Kling - Owner/Director/Instructor

The Eau Claire School of Dance is owned and under the direction of Stephanie Houdek-Kling. She has been teaching studio classes for more than 20 years.

She worked with the Universal Dance Association for 15 years and was a Head Instructor for 12 years. She has judged the National Dance Team Championships for many years. This competition can be seen yearly on ESPN.  

Stephanie has toured worldwide teaching classes in Paris, France, London, England, as well as numerous cities in the US. Her creative and innovative choreography has earned top honors at many highly regarded competitions around the country, including various "High Score" and "Grand Champion" titles. Stephanie furthers her training yearly in New York City, as well as attending conventions and classes throughout the United States learning from the best in the dance field: Joe Tremaine, Desiree Robbins, Jackie Sleight, Dave Carter, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson and Cris Judd, to name a few.

She has also worked for several years with the Moscow Ballet and their local performances of The Great Russian Nutcracker. Stephanie has also worked with the one and only, Bob McGrath, from Sesame Street! She choreographed for the local performance of Bob's National Tour.

Stephanie's students have gone on to earn several distinguished awards at competitions over the years, "Stand Out Dancer", "All Star", "High Point" and numerous others. Several have been hired by Disney as performers. 

Dance is Stephanie's passion. It means the world to her to be able to share that passion with her students daily!

Acrobatic Arts Certified Instructor

 

The ECSOD is also under the direction of Miki Hegg. She has been teaching and assisting classes for over 12 years. Miki began her dance career right here at the Eau Claire School of Dance.  

She then went on to study dance at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where she trained under dance professionals from various prestigious dance companies around the world including The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The American Contemporary Ballet Company, and The Limón Dance Company.  

She has also studied under world-renowned choreographers including Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Shane Sparks, Cris Judd, Laurieann Gibson, Stacey Tookey, Joe Tremaine, Art Stone, and many more by continuing to further her dance education at conventions and classes around the United States. Miki travels to New York City multiple times each year to learn and grow as a dancer and instructor taking classes in all styles of dance at the one-and-only Broadway Dance Center NYC. 

Miki received various awards through dance including multiple "High Score" and "Stand-out Dancer" awards. Her choreography has earned many awards including "Most Creative Concept", "Most Entertaining", and multiple "Best Choreography" awards throughout various dance competitions in the region. Miki is known for her original and creative choreography, bringing innovation and excitement to dance in Eau Claire.

When Miki isn't dancing, teaching, or choreographing, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking & baking, playing cards and other board games, cheering on the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers, and traveling.

Jennifer has been teaching and assisting classes for over five years.  Jennifer began her dancing career right here at the Eau Claire school of Dance.  She has been a part of the Eau Claire School of Dance’s Company dance line for the past seven years.  Jennifer has further enhanced her dance knowledge by being a member of her high school dance team, attending dance conventions, and taking classes in New York City.

Jennifer is a freshman attending the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where she is majoring in Kinesiology and is in charge of creating and executing an exercise program for adults.  Jennifer is also an assistant at a local daycare provider.

She is currently teaching a wide range of students Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Hip Hop as well as assisting with our competitive ECSOD Company classes.

 
 

Nicole Johnson - Instructor

Nicole has been dancing for 12 years, beginning with Ballet and has added on multiple dance genres over the years. She has experience in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Lyrical. Her favorite style to perform is Contemporary. Becoming an Assistant Instructor peaker her interest because she enjoys helping her students and seeing their growth. She has previous experience working with children from babysitting and has learned that you have to be patient and have to adapt to each childs style of learning and interpretation. She has been teaching and assistant teaching classes for 6 years. Nicole is very excited for another fabulous year at ECSOD!

Nadine Smith - Instructor

Nadine's dance career began right here at ECSOD at the age of 3! Her early years were spent here as well as with the Minnesota Ballet training in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Modern, Tap, and Pointe. In High School, Nadine was on the Memorial Varsity Dance Team all 4 years, where she also served as captain for her senior year. 

After high school, Nadine was an instructor for the Universal Dance Association. She traveled to various cities throughout the midwest training high school age dancers in jazz, hip hop, pom, kick, lyrical, and more. Through UDA, Nadine also judged various dance competitions thoughout the US. 

Nadine then went to Arizona State University where she studied dance and also was a member of the Arizona State University Dance Team. While on the ASU Dance Team, she performed with artists such as Taylor Swift, James Brown, and Little Richard, as well as the half-time show in the Super Bowl with artists Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. She has also performed at the NCAA Championships and the BCS National Championship.

Nadine continues to further her dance education by attending various dance conventions and classes around the United States. She has studied under Mia Michaels, Ray Leeper, and Travis Wall to name a few. 

Nadine's passion for dance is what drives her... her love for teaching brings her incredible joy and she is thrilled to be back teaching at ECSOD!

Keegan Cianciolo - Assistant Instructor

Keegan has been dancing for 8 years.  Since Joining ECSOD's Performance Company in 2011, Keegan has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, and Contemporary.  

Along with taking extra classes at conventions, Keegan was part of The Minnesota Ballet's "The Nutcracker" in 2008.

Keegan is an Honor Roll Student in 9th Grade at North High School. When not dancing, Keegan enjoys playing Soccer and Tennis.

 

Ashley Kinning - Assistant Instructor

Ashley has been dancing for 15 years and has enjoyed every minute of it! She has studied many styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theater, Contemporary, and Pointe.

She is very excited to be assisting this year and can't wait to watch her students grow. She brings a fun and bubbly personality into every class she teaches and her love for dance shines bright wherever she goes!

When Ashley is not at the dance studio, she enjoys swimming and being outdoors. 

 

Zoe Gullicksrud - Assistant Instructor

Zoe has been dancing for 11 years. She has studied many types of dance over the years. Her favorite styles are Ballet and Contemporary. Zoe is eager to help her students learn and grow in dance class. Zoe brings lots of laughs and smiles to the classroom and is excited to work with her students!

Lizzy Kohler - Assistant Instructor 

Lizzy has been dancing for 12 years. She began with ballet and tap at 3 years old and now has experience in Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Musical Theater as well. Lizzy loves to dance and loves working with children. She has been an Assistant Instructor for 2 years now. Lizzy brings positivity and fun to the classroom each week and is excited to help her students grow throughout the year. 

 

 

 

Kamryn Gunnes - Assistant Instructor

Kamryn has been dancing for 5 years. She has studied Jazz, Hip Hop, Pom, Kick, Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, and Modern. Her favorite style is Hip Hop. This year, she will also be studying Contemporary and Musical Theater. Teaching dance has taught Kamryn that with patience and perseverance comes the reward of watching her students succeed. Kamryn brings energy and a positive attitude to the classroom and looks forward to being able to share her passion for dance with her students every week.
